Daily Words Continued…

It’s been a week since my last post — life has been it’s usual crazy but my daily word count is still happening throughout the craziness.  It’s not everyday as is my goal and hope but it’s been at least 4 times a week.  I’m not settling at 4, I still want 7 days at 1800 words.  It’s been a challenge.

The biggest challenge being me.  Those times when I opt not to write (because I’m tired or it seems overwhelming to do) or when I run out of times in the evenings.  I’m trying to spread out my goal throughout the whole day so I don’t have that pressure to get to that 1800 word goal in one sitting, though I have to admit when I’ve done it this way, it has been invigorating.  To know that I wrote over 1800 words in one sitting does give me a feeling that I’ve accomplished something huge.

But I will continue — putting down words to that amateur cozy mystery.  The more I work on it the more I fall in love with it.  I have been wondering whether this story is good enough to be published and trying not to get too discouraged in those moments when I feel that it’s not.  Those are the times when I force myself to put down words anyway, though I may feel that the story is not so good.

Sigh.

I’m kicking myself too because I haven’t picked up that paranormal revision yet.  It’s just waiting for me.  Why am I hesitating?

This week will be a busy one with trying to complete my book reviews (9 in all) and prep for a birthday party for the newly 5 year old – the prepping including some major cleaning.  So perhaps,  next week when party and reviews are over, I can get to my other 2 goals: the script and the paranormal revision.

I do want to get back to my goal of having 2 completed spec scripts to show to  screenwriting agents.  The screenwriter in me hates that her format is being completely ignored and that the novelist is getting top priority.  Ahhh…  🙂

Hoping for a progress, this week.  Wishing all my fellow ROW80ers the same.

Daily Words…

My first check-in since Round 3 started.  Crazy. I’ve been away for these past two weeks on a family vacation, I haven’t been able to check-in.  I’m back home now and ready to get into the groove.  The good news: I’ve had a few good writing times as I travelled by car to the West Coast and back.

Really excited for this round.  My goals (once again) are:

1. To write 1,800 words per day.

2. To write 5 pages a day of my script on my scheduled writing days (of which there are four of these days every week).

3.  On the paranormal revision (1st Draft): complete a read-through, editing, taking notes and making changes.

At this time, I’m working on my daily word count.  It’s been every other day at around 2,000 words.  So my goal is to consistently write each day — if it happens to be at 2,000 words a day, I’ll be psyched.  But of course, 1,800 is just as fine.   My daily word count has been my main focus these past two weeks.  I’m looking to pick up the paranormal revision — was about to at least twice during the trip but then chose to do something else.  I think because my head is so wrapped up in my amateur cozy mystery that I’m afraid to delve into something different for fear of losing my momentum with the former.  And yet there’s lots to be done…

Stay tuned…

Wishing all my fellow ROW80ers a good and productive week!

ROW 80: Round 3 – Automatic

Round 3 already.  Wow!  This year is going by fast…

Simply put, my goals for this round are:

1. To write 1,800 words per day.

2. To write 5 pages a day of my script on my scheduled writing days (of which there are four of these days every week).

3.  On the paranormal revision (1st Draft): complete a read-through, editing, taking notes and making changes.

These goals are the same ones I had for the last round of Row 80.  I’m posting them again because they feel reasonable and doable and I’m aiming for consistency more than anything in this round.  If I can consistently write 1800 words a day, 20 pages of my script per week along  with work through my revision until it’s completed, progress will be made.  Books and scripts will be completed and my work will be ready to be sent to readers, agents and editors.

Consistency, for me, is key.  Especially when life with three young children happens.  I won’t get anything done, I believe, if I’m not consistent.  There’s just too many things going on in my life.  I want to get to a place – especially with my daily word count – where I am doing it automatically, like brushing my teeth everyday.

Consistent.  Automatic. Me.  This Round.

Can’t wait to read what all the rest of you ROW80ers are up to!  Hello Round 3!
