Plugging Away…

I’m plugging away with these words.

I lost a couple of days early this week because of two long, busy days but I’m back.  I was feeling discouraged about my word count last night when a fellow writer decided to do a word sprint and asked for people to join in.  Against my tired , I pushed anyway and joined in.  892 words in 30 minutes.  It was the encouragement I needed to remember that I still can put words on a page to get to my goal of 50,000 words.  All is not lost because I’m behind.

So today, I plan to continue…

It’s book review week for me — that came fast!  Usually the writing is pushed to the back burner but this time around I’m going to keep at it.  I’m motivated.

Keeping Up…

It’s what I’ve been doing this August which has fallen in line with my goal of writing 1800 words a day.

Writing those words – mostly daily but not enough to hit the 1800 word mark I set for myself or at least the 1667 that Nano requires.  Trying to catch up though I am still way behind.  I won’t even say how way behind I am but I haven’t broken the 20 K mark and we’re halfway through the month.  I wanted to break 20K by the end of this weekend but that’s unlikely, unfortunately.

I’ve been doing wordsprints with some fellow writers who are also doing August’s Camp NaNo and that’s been pretty helpful.  Otherwise I most likely would’ve given up by now.

My Manhattan amateur cozy mystery is the target but I have to say that I’m slogging through the story. I find myself running out of scenes to write.  I find myself doubting whether the story is interesting enough to sell.  I try not to think too deeply about it but just keep writing, keeping at it despite where I’m at.

Wishing you ROW80ers a good week!

Wow, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last posted.  It’s been over two weeks! Crazy.  I think the last post came at the beginning of a very busy book review week which is the one week each month that I immerse myself in writing reviews for books assigned to me by a national magazine.  That week was seriously busy so no writing was done.  The week  after yielded slow results that turned into more consistent results as I tried to reach that daily word count goal of 1800.   By the end of the week I was getting some substantial words in.

I’m doing Nanowrimo for August and once again, I’m behind.  By a lot.   Surprise, surprise.  It’s been a challenge lately in the last few days to put words down.  With life happening, it seems like I don’t have enough time to put in some words.  I’m pushing myself though and trying not to go down the discouraged route.  I really, really want to complete this amateur cozy mystery.
