It’s been a couple of weeks now, and I’m beginning to move along fine with my daily word count goal of 500 words. I have fallen in love with a new story – originally an inspirational short story piece that I am creating for Writer’s Digest Competition. This short story piece is becoming longer and I am developing it as I write. The characters have gripped me and the tension between them has taken hold. I can’t stop writing it and I’m excited.
The good news: it’s on its way to becoming a novel draft. I have an unexpectedly new novel.
The not-so-good news: I think I may need to find another short story piece to submit. I can’t see how to shorten this one to make it into a viable short story. I have until June to do this.
I’m glad to get the ball rolling on my word count again. It’s becoming consistent. Though 500 words is the goal, I’ve been reaching on average 900 in a sitting, so that’s encouraging.
I still need to get back to that paranormal revision. The biggest challenge for me in moments is staying the course on one writing project. I have several ideas at once and the passion to jump right in and write them that I often get distracted from the original projects I am working on. I’m trying not to make that the case here.
How is it going with your goals? Wishing you some good, consistent writing/revision time this week, ROW80ers.
Until next time…
